If you like being driven around town as a sort of tourism exhibit, then those Trenes Turísticos are for you, but many consider that they are a nuisance… especially an Italian tourist in Toledo. Read on!

This 44-year-old man was plodding around the city of Toledo last Saturday, taking in the sights until the tourist train knocked him over.

Now, before you think that the train driver has it in for Italian tourists, it should be noted that the multi-carriage vehicle had nobody on board; not a driver nor any passengers because it was parked up on a hill.

Somehow, it started rolling down Calle Capuchinos with its steep incline before ending up hanging over a drop overlooking a park where many tourists were eating, as it was lunchtime

However, before ending up as it did, it ran into the unfortunate tourist, who was taken to a centro de salud A&E before being transferred by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario de Toledo, where his state was described as not bloody happy. Actually, we don’t know the extent of his injuries.

The Policía Local are looking into how the accident came about and suspect that the handbrake failed and that it was in parked in neutral (if in has gears, that is). The vehicle is being investigated at the municipal workshops so this will be confirmed or not.
