There was almost a surreal accident that took place in the Malaga-fairground caseta (bar) when a man in a state of drunkenness got his head stuck under a table.

Yes, a man in his 50s ended up being hospitalised at the Hospital Regional de Málaga after toppling over and jamming his head under foot-rest of a small, round table.

Eyewitnesses first though that the fall had killed him but on-duty medical personnel managed to revive him sufficiently for a rapid transfer to the A&E Department as the said hospital. The incident is no laughing matter, however, because his state is described as critical and he’s having breathing assistance (mechanical ventilation).

The accident occurred in the early morning, not long before daylight on Sunday the 16th. He lost his balance and fell over backwards hitting the footrest in such a way as to jam his head under it. Obviously, the impact caused a serious head injury.

Fire personnel were despatched together with the police and an ambulance with the fire crew needed to free his head without causing him further injury.
