Motril will open a large, purpose-built, study room for university students preparing for exams that will be open 24/7, using personal pin codes for entry.

Mayor Luisa García Chamorro said that this facility will be a first of its kind on the Costa Tropical, with the nearest existing one being in the city of Granada
It will be on Avenida Arquitecto Ángel Gijón, housed within a 240-sq/m property. It will have 50 individual study desks, two soundproof booths for online classes or video calls, two group study rooms for collaborative projects, and a dedicated rest area.
The Town Council is using its own funds, some 400,000 euros, with a good amount of that budget being used for aircon systems.
Companies interested in building it have until the end of this month to enter construction & furnishing bids. If all goes well, the contract should have been awarded by October with a building phase lasting four months; or in other words, it should be open in February or March.
As mentioned at the beginning, entry will be controlled via an automated system where registered users receive a personal access code. This automated system allows the study room to stay open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, closing only for one hour daily for professional cleaning services.
