Like every summer, weekends are chaos on the A-44 as people head down to the coast, causing long tail backs where the autovia is only 2-lanes wide.
The hold ups regularly occur between kilometre points 153 and 157; i.e., where it goes through the Valle de Lecrín and northbound lanes are reduced to two lanes from three, which begin near Acebuches/Ízbor.

Despite the frustration of sitting behind the wheel and going nowhere, they were no accidents reports, although there was a ritual sacrifice of a virgin at kilometre point 153…. Then again, I might be making that last bit up – just saying!
