Motril Air Show 2026

the 20th Motril Air Show began at 11.00h as scheduled and was spectacular, as every schoolboy and girl had hoped. Thousands of spectators were strung out along the beach watching the aircraft zooming along just out above the sea.

People had turned up as early as 07.00h to find somewhere to park, because otherwise it was Mission Impossible – park up and go for breakfast somewhere nearby.

José Miguel Juárez, who organises this air show each year since its inception, was a happy bunny because after 20 years of bringing joy to so many aircraft enthusiasts and jubilant children, plasted in sun-blocker cream and ear-to-ear grins, it wa mission accomplished for another year.

Around twenty aircraft participated, from a fast, flashy figher jet (Tornado) to the helicopter display team based in Granada, La Patrulla Aspa, performing a sort of circular aerial dance slowy rotating in controlled excellence.

There were historic aircraft (first ever, Spanish, fighter jet, the Saeta) civilian aerobatic aircraft ( Pilatus PC-21) zooming around in swirling ease as well as the Guardia Civil and Policía Nacional choppers, together with a Spanish Army, woca-woca (Chinook, twin rotor, heavy-lift, helicopter). As the Chinook hovered, seemingly motionless in front of the spectators, the announcer mentioned that this lumbering machine could reach 300 kph when needed.

Infoca were going to participate but they had to rush off to deal with a fire that some spoil-sport had started.
