Today the town of Moclín will be plunged (voluntarily) into the Middle Ages for one day as for the second time they will host a medieval fair.
Apart from stalls and people dressed in costumes, there will also be a reenactment of when it played a fundamental role in defending the Nazarid Kingdom of Granada.

Organised by the Villa de Moclín Cultural Association and the Town Council, in collaboration with the Provincial Council and local residents and businesses, the event aims to promote the town’s history and heritage.
Obviously, the townsfolk have been busy making costumes and decorations that will be used both in the parade and the street theatre.
No medieval event is complete without stalls selling handicraft, sweetmeats from the epoch and the inevitable juggler.
Things begin at 10:30h and at 11:00h, Professor Juan Pedro Muñoz will give a lecture on the history of towers, warriors, and battles in the town that served as the ‘Shield of Granada.’
Apart from the renown that the town is earning for its medieval fair, it is also home to a teacher called Raúl Cerezo García, who just happens to have the consideration of being one of the best teachers in Spain. He was chosen to give the inauguration-ceremony speech.
The townsfolk will form the parade dressed either in Nasrids attire or that of Castilians, accompanied by marching bands. Upon reaching the threshing floors, a reenactment of the fall of the Moclín will take place, marking the end of the Andalusí period.
As for the afternoon, there will be archery, workshops, acrobatics, and falconry diplays. And then in the evening there will be another parades and reenactment, followed by fireworks, Celtic-music concert, and a street party at the foot of the castle.
