On the last weekend of last month, Játar (not far from El Pato Loco) was the scene of the first hill fire at the doors of summer.

It was reported at 15.00h on Saturday the 23rd in the area of Cortijo Moyano (on the boundary with Alhama de Granada) and Infoca deployed ground and air units. 

The regional firefighting service first deployed one heavy-lift, double-rotor, helicopter and three other small ones. On the ground were four foot units and two 4×4 fire trucks

Infoca declared the fire as “stabilised” (meaning that it was no longer advancing on any front) at 19.30h.

However, within 24 hours another fire was reported in Lanjarón around one in the afternoon on Sunday in the Jaral de Cáñar area of the municipality. This was a smaller blaze and was reported as completely out by 15.30h.
