On the last weekend of last month, Lecrín Town Council and the Centro Náutico Valle de Lecrín, together with Plantando Semillas (Planting Seeds), organised a Day of Awareness.

The event consisted of collecting up litter and nature activities in this beautiful and privileged area around the reservoir.

The activity began around 09:00h, combining learning, community living, and environmental action through several ideas aimed people of all ages.

It started with a talk on waste before setting of to find it and remove it. Then there were workshops dealing with waste recycling; i.e., reusing of materials found during the day.

By the end of the day, 10 full rubbish sacks had been filled with discarded rubbish.

Editorial comment: I went along on Sunday around six in the evening after returning from the coast and there were still people in the recreation area enjoying the evening.
