The Episcopal Conference (National Council of Bishops) released figures concerning sexual assaults on minors committed by members of the clergy.
They explained that they had collected 93 testimonies in 2025 concerning this kind of abuse. These 93 instances reported by victims are in the process of being verified for credibility, explained the Secretary General, Monsignor Francisco César García Magán.

In total, there have been 1,131 complaints and “around a thousand perpetrators” in the last five years.
As for reparation, the Secretary General said, “We are working on a concept of comprehensive reparation. That is, to meet what each victim desires, not only at an economic level.”
He went on further to explain that the first level of reparation corresponds to the perpetrator and, “if they have since died, the Episcopal Conference or the respective congregation will have subsidiary responsibility.
But affairs covered in the meeting of the Council of Bishops was not only the subject of the abuse of minors but also how the right-wing PP and far-right, Vox, through their regional governments, are threatening the Roman Catholic Church’s charity, Cáritas, for aiding illegal immigrants
“We are in an era in which politics moves by slogans and advertising claims. Polarisation is sought, without nuances. But the reality of the Church is much broader, richer, and cannot be, nor will ever be, on the side those who want to nullify, exclude, or eliminate the other, said the Monsignor.
Faced with Vox’s claim that sectors of the Church “enriched themselves” through illegal migration, he said that “it falls within the realm of pure ideological positioning. It is not based on truth, but on falsehood. Even in the realm of insult.”
