Knife at The Parade

Semana Santa is not only a tricky time because of the wax on the pavements, etc, but in the case of Granada, you could get attacked by somebody with a large knife. Read on...

The Policía Nacional carried out the arrest of a man in his mid-40s on Jueves Santo for being extremely naughty with a sharp weapon.

Most people turn up for a procession with a candle but the arrested gentleman gleefully brandished a knife with a 22-cm blade, threatening those gathered to watch the Easter procession, as well as an employee from a bar.

This happened during the early hours in the Distrito Centro of the city. The police received a call explaining what was happening, giving a detailed description of the person.

When the police arrived at the scene of the altercation, they grabbed the man, bending his arms at unusual angles, before cuffing him. Upon searching him, they found the knife within the inside pocket of his coat.

Suitably impressed, they stuffed him into a police car… minus the knife, and questioned witnesses, especially those that claimed that they had the chance for a close up encounter with blade without actually getting punctured or having pieces chopped off them.

The 45-year-old man has over 30 arrests under his belt for all kinds of naughtiness.
