Spain Says No to Donald

Spain has doubled down on its criticism of the US/Israel's unprovoked attack on Iran by closing its air space to US flights used to attack Iran.

Unlike the UK, which started off by prohibiting US bases on UK sovereign territory from being used to prosecute this illegal war, only to cave in, the Spanish Government remains firm in its opposition to Donald Trump’s catastrophic adventures.

The prohibition not only affects US warplanes from taking off from US bases in Morón and Rota, but also those taking off from France and the UK cutting across Spanish airspace.

Spanish Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, stated: “From the very first moment, it was conveyed very clearly to the American side and American forces; therefore, neither the bases nor, of course, the use of Spanish airspace, are authorised for actions related to the war in Iran.”

Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, stated: “We have denied the United States the use of the Rota and Morón bases for this illegal war. All flight plans involving actions related to the operation in Iran have been rejected. All of them, including those for refueling aircraft.”

Obviously, Donald Trump is not a happy bunny now, starting in March, when he threatened to break off trade with Spain, stating: “We could use their bases if we wanted to. We can fly there and use them. No one is going to tell us not to use them.” Well, he was wrong.

“We don’t have to. But they were hostile, so I told them we didn’t want to do it,” the US President stated after learning of the Spanish decision.

The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, stated yesterday that he foresees a scenario of “almost perpetual war” in the Middle East, adding that the situation in Lebanon is beginning to resemble that of Gaza.

Now you can say what you like about Spain’s domestic politics but his Government is the only European one to speak out against the war.

All Europeans leaders, including the UK, France and Germany have not held back criticising Iran’s attacks on the Gulf States but have not even wimpered criticism what those attacks are the consequences of.

Anybody would think that Iran had started the conflict by attacking the Gulf States and the US and Israel’s attacks were a response to them, the way that the European leaders are pussy footing around Donald Trump. The Spanish Prime Minister is not amongst them
