The DGT have issued a list of five V16 emergency beacons that are not valid, bringing the total to nine.
But don’t panic, if you have one, it doesn’t mean that you cannot continue to use it, but rather it means that you should steer clear of purchasing one in the future.

In other words, check carefully if you are about to order one, that it is not one of the following.
- ISSE Safety Light
- Eltv16Eurolight When You Need To Be Safe V16Eurolight
- Dunlop V16
- ISSE Safety Light 2
- Swiss Drive V16
The DGT have not explained why these makes of emergency beacons fall foul of acceptability on Spanish roads, however.
When one comes on the market, the DGT checks them out. If they find over time there are reports that there have been problems with them, they contact the makers to rectify the fault but if they fail to do so, they go on the list.
