Violent Bus Incident

Catching a bus in Chauchina (Granada) can be murder, literally, it seems, after a man in his late 20s was run over by a bus.

Mind you, the victim had reportedly attacked the bus with an axe first, after swiping at two passing cars but missing them.

This incident took place Saturday night (more commonly known as a ‘punch & a pint night,’ in the UK) around 23.30h on Calle Carrera de la Virgen.

According to a passenger who witnessed the event, the bus was entering town when a man, standing in the middle of the road wielding an axe, brought the bus to a screeching halt.

Having gained the attention of the driver and the passengers, he then set about attacking the windscreen with his axe.

He was making his way round to the driver’s side window, while the passengers screamed in the back, when the driver decided that the bus was full and drove off… over the man, unfortunately.

Naturally, within minutes, the Guardia Civil and a 061 ambulance turned up and confirmed that the 28-year-old, axe-wielding man was dead.

The driver had been injured as well and had a wounded forearm and was taken to the Hospital de Neurotraumatología in the city of Granada.

The Guardia Civil are investigating whether the running over of the gentleman had been accidental or whether there had been an “autolytic Ideation” on the part of the victim; i.e., suicidal intention…
