Convergencia Andaluza (a.k.a. Benny’s party) has asked the Town Council to exempt Municipal Market leaseholders from fees and having to pay the cost of the technical certificate.
This is because, according to an official letter sent by the Town Council, leaseholders for the stalls must present, amongst other documents, a certificate signed by a competent architect and backed by the corresponding professional college.
The CA pointed out that the leaseholders for the new stalls have already endured considerable economic damage following the closing down of the old market, costing them a lot more than the only compensation that they have received. On top of that, they also have to find the outlay for restarting their businesses.
For this reason, the CA considers that, “Given that the Town Council hired an architect for the market project, it is reasonable that the technical certificate required for the use [of the stalls] be issued by the same person through the Town Council, without additional cost to the stallholders.”
Along the same lines, the CA considers that stallholders should also be exempt from the payment of the municipal fees corresponding to setting up a business, having been evicted from their old stalls for reasons not attributable to them and with all the financial penalties involved from the loss of trade.
