Lorry Damages Autovia Bridges

The A-92G autovia between Granada and Santa Fe on the Granada-bound lanes had to be closed to traffic after a lorry struck overhead pedestrian bridges.

Maintenance crews quickly established detours through the Chana area of the city.

The accident occurred around 13:30h on Tuesday when the lorry transporting a backhoe loader struck the pedestrian bridge. This caused structural damage, leading to the bridge being cordoned off, as well.

In the meantime the lorry had carried on its way and hit a second overhead bridge near kilometre point seven, damaging one of the support beams.

The lanes were reopened before 07.00h the next day after maintenance crews finished installing the necessary support structures (shoring) on the damaged overpass.

Whilst the autovía is now open, there are still restrictions on the overpass itself, where traffic is being managed with alternating one-way flow.

Meanwhile, on the GR-30 (Granada ring road) traffic delays were caused by a separate accident involving a car and a trailer occurring around 13:40h yesterday near the Nevada Shopping Centre (km 15), causing traffic jams of up to nine kilometres in the on the Motril-bound lanes.

Then around 16.30h there was another accident on the GR-30 when two vehicles collided causing injuries to two women. This happed near kilometre point 11 on the Jaén-bound lanes.
