Fire personnel based in Cádiar were called out to confirm that two cars that had been swept down the Río Chico in Órgiva on Wednesday had nobody in them.
The rise in the water level of the rivers has worsened communications between Órigiva and its municipal dependencies of Bayacas and Tablones.

Órgiva Town Hall confirmed yesterday morning that one of the cars definitely had nobody in it, after tracking down the owner who said that he had abandoned the vehicle on a piece of level land next to the riverbank upon seeing the force of the water.
There was concern, however, with the other vehicle as the windows were misted up which could mean that somebody was inside. However, the fire personnel managed to reach it and confirmed that nobody was inside.
The Central Government representative for the province, José Antonio Montilla, said in a press meeting yesterday that 30 people from 20 dwellings had been evacuated in the area, pointing out that several cortijos on the left bank of Río Chico between Bayacas and the town of Órgiva are cut off.
