Two men, accused of attempted murder, are facing a recommended sentence of 13 years imprisonment in the trial coming up on the 19th this month.
The incident took place in La Mamola on the Costa Tropical in December 2023 when the accused attacked a bar owner with stones, as well as a man who had attempted to come to his aid.

It was 23.00h on the 16th when the defendants, (both Moroccan) were sat with friends on the bar terrace. At one point the accused started throning tables and chairs about, according to the Public Prosecutor.
When the bar owner came out to tell them off, they allegedly reacted by throwing stones at him, impacting several parts of his body. A customer was also struck with a glass bottle to the head.
However, the most severe injuries were sustained by a man who arrived at the scene after seeing what was happening and tried to intervene. They began throwing stones at him and, at one point, grabbed a large stone and threw it at his head. The man suffered a severe, traumatic brain injury that required being hospitalised and surgery.
The Public Prosecutor is requesting that they be convicted for grevious bodily harm, for which the Public Prosecution recommends four and a half years in prison; actual bodily harm (punishable by a fine); and a third count of attempted homicide. For the latter, it recommends an additional nine years in prison for both defendants, along with a 10-year restraining order and communication ban regarding the victims.
In terms of civil liability, the Public Ministry is requesting 38,000 euros in compensation for the primary victim, 500 euros for the owner of the premises, and 300 euros for the other individual assaulted.
