The duties of the A&E at the Padul Centro de Salud had to be transferred to Dúrcal temporarily last month following a verbal assault on the clinic’s doctor. 

A family seeking treatment at the clinic engaged in violent behaviour towards the doctor on duty at the A&E  Department. The Mayor of Padul, Celia Villena  categorically condemned the events. “It is an unacceptable act; violence against our healthcare workers is intolerable,” she stated.

Padul Town Council reported the incident on social media so that residents would know to go to Dúrcal in case of an emergency. The goal was to avoid unnecessary travel and ensure residents were prepared. 

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in the town; other assaults were recorded several months ago and a year ago. 

Two more doctors had been assaulted in Almuñécar and in Motril just one month ago. In Darro, the Town Council even hired security for the Centro de Salud entrance due to repeated attacks.
