Castell Joins Beaches

Gualchos-Castell de Ferro Town Hall has put out to tender a project to connect the beaches in front of the urban centre to Playa Cambriles.

This idea has been a popular demand for years amongst residents of this municipality at the eastern end of the Costa Tropical.

Mayor Toñi Antequera considers it a very necessary infrastructure as the connection between the two beaches is “not comfortable as residents and visitors have to go the long way round, losing a lot of time.”

The tender has a budget of 81,000 euros with a time limit of placing a bid ending on the 3rd of this month. The Town Council wants the whole contract-awarding process sorted as soon as possible so that the footpath can be laid before the arrival of the summer.

Such a footpath would guarantee fast transit between the municipalities two main beach areas and a safe one for people with mobility problems.

“This footpath is not just one project more; it’s in direct response to the real needs of the barrio and for those who use our beaches on a daily basis,” she said, pointing out the fact that it has wide backing from the townsfolk.

She concluded by stating that the project counts on all the necessary environmental permits from the Junta de Andalucía and the relevant Central-Government Ministry (Costas), as it respects the environment.
