A young man was rescued on the cliffs next to Hotel Playacálida in Taramay, Almuñécar on the 26th (Boxing Day).
For reasons unknown, the man had fallen between 15 and 20 metres before coming to a rest on a ledge-cum-goat path; otherwise he would have fallen onto the rocks below.

A person out walking spotted him lying on the ledge and phone the emergency number 112. The Almuñécar Fire Service, the Guardia Civil and a 061 ambulance were despatched to the scene.
The fire personnel used climbing equipment, etc to reach the unconscious man and bring him up to where the ambulance was waiting.
“For the rescue operation we used a specialised stretcher that almost completely encases the victim, leaving him immobilised. Using pulleys and ropes we were able to bring him up to the amublance,” explained the Spokesperson for the Almuñécar Fire Service.
He was taken directly to Hospital Santa Ana for a full medical examination and checking for fractures.
