The Granada, Public Prosecutor's Office has requested a 15-year, prison sentence for a Guardia Civil officer accused of ordering a robbery against an elderly woman who kept €50,000 in her home.
The 73-year-old woman was tied up, held captive and beaten until she told them where she kept the money.

As said before, the officer stands accused of ordering the robbery, so there will be seven other individuals standing in the dock with him; namely seven alleged accomplices.
It appears that after the death of the officer’s brother, who managed investments, the officer took on the responsibility of returning earned profits to his clients.
This is how he met the elderly, retired woman; single and childless, who lived alone in La Zubia (metropolitan Granada). She had confined herself to her home because of the COVID-19 pandemic which was ongoing at the time, for fear of contracting the virus.
It was in March 2021, that the officer delivered money to her (the 50,000 euros). However, when she realised that 10,000 euros were missing, she confronted him about it via WhatsApp.
The officer was angry and reacted, telling her, “I’m sensing a threatening tone from you [her text], and I don’t like that,” according to the provisional, indictment from the Prosecutor’s Office.
Police investigation indicates that the accused was experiencing financial difficulties and, knowing that the woman likely had the investment money at home, because she rarely went outside, he allegedly contacted known criminals to “to break into the house and steal the money” and any mobile phones they found, because on the content of the conversations that had gone on between him and the victim.
The officers met up with the accomplice in the Juncaril Trading Estate and reportedly gave them their instructions, which they later carried out (allegedly) in the early hours of one morning.
Once inside the assailants grabbed her and tied up, remaining like this for six hours. During this time they searched her home, turning it upside down, looking for the safe, and then using an axe to rip it out of the wall.
Fearing that the subsequent police investigation into the robbery would lead to him, he used the police computer system to find out how it was going, telling them that their phones had been tapped and they were being watched.
The public prosecutor is recommending a 15-year prison sentence for each of them, as well as collectively pay 96,707 euros in compensation for the damage caused to the house and her injuries.
The trial will take place on the 23rd of January at the Granada Provincial Court.
