The National Institute for Statistics (INE), the Tax Agency (AEAT) as well as the Junta give an interesting insight into the valley’s per capita income,
No surprises that the municipalities with the highest average income in the Valley tend to coincide with the most populated ones or with those with varied incomes.

Figures for 2019-2022 show Padul is at the top, with a per capita income of around €15,200 annually, owing to being close to Granada, its industrial and service sectors.
It is followed by Dúrcal (around €13,800) and little Nigüelas (around €12,900) which has become a tourist hub in recent years.
Next are Lecrín, which brings together the towns of Talará, Chite, Béznar, Murchas, Acequias and Mondújar, with an average income of €12,400, and Villamena (Cónchar and Cozvíjar), around €11,800.
Behind them are El Pinar (Ízbor, Acebuches, Tablate and Pinos del Valle) and El Valle (Melegís, Restábal and Saleres), with per capitas close to €11,000-€11,200, which reflects its rural and residential profile.
Finally, Albuñuelas, the largest municipality and one of the oldest in the region, registers an estimated per capita income of €10,800, being the municipality with the lowest income level in the Valley as a whole.
Rural tourism, in constant growth, especially in Nigüelas, Melegís, Restábal or Cónchar, as well as the services linked to Granada and the Costa Tropical, generate employment in hospitality, construction and transportation. The balance between tradition and modernity is also reflected in income. If you’re wondering what the provincial per capita is, it’s about €14,500).
