Have you ever had the feeling that the taxi driver has taken you for a ride; literally and figuratively?
Well, that is the accusation made by one passenger who ended up being dragged along, hanging onto the door handle, because he didn’t want to lose his suitcase that was still in the boot.
This involved a taxi driver from Fuengirola on the 17th of last month. The tourist, when dropped off at his destination (a hotel in Málaga), was charged double what the driver had said it would cost.
An argument ensued ending in the driver trying to drive off with the tourist’s baggage still in the boot. The passenger stood in front of the vehicle determined to recover his suitcase whilst the taxi driver tried to swerve around him. However, the client grabbed a door handle so that the taxi driver would not leave with his suitcase and that was when he allegedly accelerated, dragging him along and causing a head injury.
The hotel manager phoned the Policía Nacional who came round, along with an ambulance, where he was treated before being taken to the Costa del Sol Hospital, where he received stitches for the gash on his head.
Consequently, the 60-year-old taxi driver was arrested.
