Forty-three people are under investigation, suspected of taking part in a massive, police, entrance-exam, corruption case in Granada.
The scandal involves officers belonging to the municipal police forces of the city of Granada, and the two metropolitan-area towns of Algarinejo and Albolote.

One of the suspects is the ex-Chief of Police for the city, José Manuel Jiménez Avilés, who is suspected of getting his son a job within the city’s Policía Local by dishonest means.
The other candidates who allegedly received a ‘helping hand’ were all relatives of serving officers.
The ex-Chief of Police sat on the Examining Board, normally as the Chairman and the person in charge of selecting other exam judges.
According to the Policía Nacional the group of suspects tried to get the Chief’s son through with flying colours, resulting in the son obtaining position number six amongst all the other candidates.
Another of the accused is Superintendent, Juan José M. J., who also sat as the Chairman on the board of examiners for 40 vacant positions. He is suspected of having a direct connection with the candidate who obtained the 5th position; i.e., his daughter’s boyfriend.
So far, José Manuel Jiménez Avilés is the only person to have lost his job, but through ‘voluntary resignation’ as Chief of Police in February.
Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, said, “He resigned his post in order to avoid damaging the good name of our Policía Local,” pointing out that the problem goes back several years during other administrations; in other words, not only on her watch.
The police investigation counts on a protected witness who has supplied 53 digital recordings.
