The body of a man with severe injuries was found down a well on his property in the town of Lorenzana, Cuadros, León on Sunday the 2nd of November.

The man’s body had been mutilated as his genitals were found nearby in the garden. One of the lines of thought of the police is that it was self-mutilation. Although no hypothesis has been ruled out, all indications point to suicide.

Apparently, the 63-year-old man had been suffering from severe depression “for some time,” neighbours say. “He wasn’t seen around town much.”

The investigation (the case is under seal/gagging order) began late Sunday after the body was discovered. The man’s house has been cordoned off by the Guardia Civil while the investigation continues.

Although the incident occurred on Sunday, news of it only came to light yesterday.
