Owing to how well the first walk of this kind went, which took place in July, the Environmental Department of Town Hall is organising another guided walk.
This time it will explore the irrigation channels & ditches within the municipality. This is part of the Provincial Council’s Custodia de los Ríos project.

The event will take place this Saturday and aims to showcase the importance of these traditional infrastructures, not only for farmland irrigation, but also for the conservation of the biodiversity around them.
As for the route, it will be approximately three kilometres long and is categorised as easy/difficult, which sounds like a contradiction but is really somewhere between the two.
Participants (who will not have to register previously, so you just need to turn up) will set out at 09.00h from the Julio Martín Pérez Sports Complex. It’s free and comfortable clothing, water, and sunscreen are recommended.
The guide for the walk is Pablo Jaimez, who will explain how the irrigation ditches work and their ecological value. Furthermore, participants will be able to learn about the environmental regeneration work being carried out since 2021 as part of this project, financed with EU funds.
