Light Aircraft Crash Lands

There has been another light-aircraft crash in the Axarquía region, this time, thankfully, with nobody seriously injured.

The two occupants were a flying instructor and a student on a flying class when the instructor was forced to make a crash landing in an olive grove.

This happened within the municipality of Periana, in the Alta Axarquía region on Tuesday afternoon around 18:45h.

For reasons still unknown and under investigation, the engine lost power. As a result of the impact both onboard suffered minor hand injuries, which did not require medical attention.

The crashed aircraft belongs to the Aerodynamics pilot-training school, which has its main offices at the Leoni Benabú de la Axarquía Aerodrome( El Trapiche, Vélez-Málaga).

The last fatal accident in the Axarquía area occurred on December the 14th, 2024, when Granada-born pilot, Oliver Frutos, died while performing an acrobatic-flight display next to the Axarquía aerodrome runway.
