Child Discovers Parents’ Bodies

The police have yet to find a conclusive explanation for the deaths of a man and woman in a shantytown located in the municipality of Coín, Málaga.

It was the 6-year-old daughter who found their bodies, who then wandered off through the countryside until she came across a house where she told these neighbours that her parents were dead, inside her home.

Can you imagine how that must have been for the child and how it will effect her for the rest of her life, perhaps? Thankfully, some very young children erase traumatic memories.

The neighbours called the emergency coordination centre, 112, just after five in the afternoon on Sunday the 12th. The location of the shantytown is an area known as the Arroyo de las Piedras, which is about 12km from Coín.

The Policia Local accompanied the Guardia Civil officers to the scene and questioned the neighbours who had phoned in. The girl was with them and she had on her the keys to where her parents lived.

When the officers arrived at the girl’s home (a small wooden structure with one bedroom and a living room), there were four dogs in the house, some of them considered potentially dangerous, as well as several cats.

The officers found the two bodies; a 48-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, both of Spanish nationality. They were not in the same part of the house and had been dead several hours.

They showed no external signs of violence. However, the man did have a small head injury although it could not have brought about his death. The police are awaiting the autopsy report.
