The Algarrobo Oktoberfest

The Centro Internacional de Algarrobo Costa will be the venue for the German beer festival on Friday the 3rd (this Friday) and Sunday the 5th.

There will be plenty of German beer and grub to be enjoyed with competition and raffles taking place, as well.

Break out your lederhosen or dirndl (Miesbacher Tracht) if you can obtain one, as there will be a prize (a beer) for the first 600 people turning up with traditional dress to the event!

Let’s hope, gentlemen, that that lederhosen is the only leather clothing and a large feather that you keep tucked away in your wardrobe for ‘special occasions.’

At 17.00h there will be a raffle for a leg of cured ham and a carafe of olive oil. There’s also a competition called the [beer] jug resistance, which, perhaps, is similar to a ‘yard of ale’ in British tradition. Perhaps a readerr could explain?

The original event, which is a Bavarian tradition, is held between the 20th of September and the 5th of October in Munich this year, a total of 16 days this year, so things are already well under way there.

Of course, you can’t have a German beer fest without music and this year there will be the following concerts:

Friday: Delcapo (20.00h), Queen Live (22.00h) and later DJ Worzel.

Saturday, which is the big day, will see the official inauguration at 13.00h, and then the music begins with Duo Heart & DJ Worzel at 13.30h, and Dany Moré at 17.00h. Duo Heart & DJ Worzel return at 18.00h while Money Makers will put the final touch to a day of live music from ten in the evening.

Sunday, if you are not already sick to death of them (just kidding) Duo Heart & DJ Worzel will hit the decibel assault at 13.00h and then Alikindoy at 17.00h.
