The Environmental Department within the Gualchos-Castell de Ferro Town Hall has issued a communiqué reminding people that octupus fishing as a sport is illegal.

Actually, it is “expressly forbidden” along the municipality’s coastline and those caught doing so could face hefty fines… And a round of rasberry blowing from the octopus community, naturally.

This prohibition is included in the Decreto 305/2023, from 29/10/23. Therefore the Town Hall requests maximum cooperation and respect from its citizenry for this law, whose objective is to protect marine fauna.

And no, just because they have nine brains and a beak doesn’t mean that they are really beings from an alien planet who are here to study us and can’t be trusted with an anal probe… admittedly, nobody should be!
