Almuñécar Mayor, Juan José Ruiz Joya, had a meeting at the end of last month with the Heads of the Mancomunidad and the water-utility company, Aguas y Servicios about Torrecuevas.
They had gathered to discuss the sewage-disposal system in that barrio of Almuñécar, which is causing all sorts of problems for the residents there. When we say ‘problems,’ it means, lingering stench for the last few decades, thanks to the deterioriated state of the pipeworks.

One of the snags about dealing with the problem is the lack of accessibility to the sewage pipes in certain sections of the pipeline.
The Mayor said that the drafting of the projects to sort it out is already underway, and once completed, they would be able to “undertake essential works that will not only resolve the unpleasant odours but also modernise the entire network with better quality material both in capacity and durability.”
So, when is the work going to begin, you ask? The official answer, according to Mancomunidad Chairman, Rafael Caballero, will be the first quarter of next year.
It’s worth pointing out that Chairman Caballero is praising the cooperation with the Town Council, which could be considered amusing, as he is also a Councillor within the said Town Council.
