Airshow Pilot Dies in Poland

One of the pilots who participated in this year's Festival Aéreo Internacional de Motril has died in a flying accident in Poland.

This sad news was announced by the organisers of the Motril Airshow on their social-media account.

The accident occurred around 19.30h local time when Polish Air Force pilot, Major Maciej Krakowian was carrying out an aerobatic practice in preparation for the upcoming Air Show Radom 2025, when, for unknown reasons, the F-16 Temo Tiger hit the ground within the airport installations.

According to a Polish news source, the plane had begun to rapidly lose altitude, while performing a barrel roll. Unfortunately, the pilot didn’t have time to eject, and the plane crashed onto the runway. Major Krakowian died instantly.

Major Krakowian, who leaves behind a grieving wife and two young sons (twins) was considered one of the best F-16 pilots in Poland. He regularly performed at air shows across Europe, gaining recognition for his skills and experience.

The Random Air Show has since been cancelled following the fatal accident. In fact, this particular air show has had two previous fatal accidents: a Żelazny Group plane also crashed, killing two pilots in 2007 and a Belarusian Su-27UBM-1 crashed in 2009 during the Radom Air Show, killing two pilots.

The preliminary official report indicates that it was a human error and not a mechanical fault
