A surgeon in Alicante was arrested after operating on his elderly father... at home, resulting finally in his death.

The 94-year-old died on Tuesday from sepsis after his son had amputated some of his toes. The Policía Nacional, who are investigating, are not releasing any further details.

According to a regional newspaper, Levante, the elderly man had been suffering from circulatory problems and gangrene had set in.

Apparently the father had returned to the home for the elderly after spend a few days with his son. The nursing staff saw that he foot was bandanged and that several toes were missing.

The home immediately sent him to Hospital de Sant Joan d’Alacant, after his health began to deteriorate.
