A six-year-old girl has lost her life after being hit by an ambulance in the Plaza de San Agustín in Valencia.

Emergency responders at the scene tried to resuscitate the child for nearly two hours, but after being transferred to Hospital La Fe, her death was confirmed. In the same location of the city, a 70-year-old woman was also killed after being run over by a delivery vehicle just a year ago.

The incident occurred shortly after 17.00h on Tuesday the 12th when the girl reportedly crossed the street without looking. At that moment, an ambulance was heading for Calle San Vicente.

Although it wasn’t speeding, it was unable to avoid hitting the girl, who had stepped out from behind recycling.

Another ambulance soon arrived together with officers belonging to the Policía Local. Owing to the child’s critical condition she suffered four cardiac arrests.

The young girl had been with her mother when, according to the sources consulted, she slipped away and crossed the street without her parent being able to grab her in time.
