La Taha Festival

If you have ever ventured up to the higher villages of the Alpujarra Granadina, you will have heard of La Taha, which is a group of small villages witin one municipality.

La Taha includes the villages or hamlets of Pitres (the capital), Mecina, Ferreirola, Fondales, Capilerilla, Atalbéitar and Mecinilla, with a combined population of only 759 inhabitants.

Towards the end of this month, from the 23rd to the 27th, they will be holding the Festival Al-Taha, which is a music and heritage event.

When we say music, we mean a wide variety including traditional music, flamenco, classical music, electronic and musical styles from around the world. There will also be an artisan/handicraft market, cultural tours, workshops and plenty of local cuisine.

The Artistic Director, Miguel Hiroshi and Head of Productions, Candela Carrascal, pointed out that there are people of over 40 different nationalities in La Taha, which gives it such an exceptional cultural wealth.
