If you haven't already visited the luxury boutique hotel, Elysium, in Melegís in the Valle de Lecrín, you are seriously missing out.
Michael and Jasmin have taken a manorial house and turned it into a beautiful, five, luxury-suite hotel coupled with one of the most unique dining areas in Granada, which is situated in the old but tastefully renovated cellar.
Whether you are planning on staying there and exploring Lecrín Valley, dotted with lemon and orange-tree groves, or have just popped up to enjoy a really classy meal, Michael and Jasmin won’t disappoint you.
They believe that true hospitality is felt, and not just seen and the experience is certainly something to enjoy.
Dining there or staying in its suites come with a price tag that you would expect from somewhere of this standing but when you come away from there, you will feel that you got your money’s worth.
Quite apart from the proudly created dishes on the carte, they also have special tasting menus and events.
On the 19th of this month, for example, they will be taking their guests on ‘culinary journey, entitled Taste of the World, providing dishes from six different countries, which is literally a walking-dinner within the premises.
The price for this 4-hour experience is 185 euros p/p and starts at 20.00h. This also includes paired wines for each dish, spirits and cocktails… and collecting passport stamps along the way…
On a regular basis, the also provide a tasting menu with dishes they describe as ‘moments’ because they take a moment when bringing each one to explain about the dish — very original!
These tasting menus are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays evenings and include 12 moments (sample dishes). The price is 125 euros p/p, and then on Sunday, but this time at lunchtime, you can choose between an 8-moment course or a 12-moment course, with the former costing 85 euros and the latter 125 (the same as Tuesdays and Saturdays).
I have just spoken with Jasmin and she tells me that there are some (few) tickets left for the 19th, so you had better hurry and make a reservation via reservations@elysiumlecrin.com.
Go on; get off the crowded coast and try something different and well worth it.
