A man drowned Wednesday evening off a beach in Fuengirola (Málaga), according to according to the 112 webpage.

The emergency coordination centre received the first of several calls at 21.10h reporting that somebody was having difficuly getting back to the beach in front of the Paseo Marítimo and appeared to be drowning some 60 metres out.

The centre quickly despatched Salvamento Marítimo, the Policía Local and Nacional, the Guardia Civil and an ambulance.

Two people were able to pull the victim from the water and bring him to shore. Despite the efforts of emergency-services personnel, they were unable to revive him despite efforts using CPR and he died there on the beach.
