Nerja Foreign Residents’ Day

Nerja says that it has the largest foreign community within the province of Málaga, withith this sector of the population, accounting for a third of its total inhabitants.

In fact, according to its padrón, it has over 22,000 foreign residents, which is why the Día del Residente de Nerja is such a big event.

The event will be held on Sunday the 27th in the Plaza de España, making it the 23rd such occasion where residents from over 100 countries can meet up to celebrate the cooperation between their Spanish hosts and themselves in their adopted home.

The Concejala de Residentes, Ana María Muñoz (PP), can be seen in the accompany photograph with American resident, Doctor Paula Anthony, who not only runs the Clinica Santa Cecila and a local cultural radio station, but also writes our medical column each month.

There will be around 30 individual stands in the square, which is the one of top of the underground car park, behind the Town Hall. The stands will be manned by local associations as well as national ones.

Things should kick off at noon (12.00h) with a concert given by the Banda de Música de Nerja.

On a different note, the Oficina Municipal de Atención al Ciudadano (OMAC), both within the Town Hall and the one in Maro will have new opening times. Nerja: Mondays to Fridays 08.00h to 14.00h and 18.00h to 20.00h; Maro: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18.00h to 20.00h.
