A young woman was admitted to the ICU suffering from head injuries after jumping from a moving car.
This accident occurred last weekend in the Gibralfaro area overlooking the city of Málaga and was caused by a handbrake not being applied, causing the car roll forwards towards a steep hillside.

There had been two people in the car when it arrived at the Parador de Gibralfaro and stopped for a few moments. The driver got out, forgetting to put the handbrake on.
Still in the car as it began to roll away gathering speed was the woman. Seeing that she couldn’t stop the car she decided to jump out as the car approached the steep hillside. Unfortunately, when she hit the ground she took a severe blow to the head.
When the man came out of the parador it was too late to do anything to prevent the accident as the car had already rolled 30 metres. Chance would have it that the car didn’t roll over the side of the hill but came to rest on a high curb. The young woman, however, was lying on the ground unconscious.
An ambulance soon arrived and took her to the A&E Department of the Hospital Regional, where her injury was quickly assested and rushed to the ICU.
The driver explained to the police that he had simply forgotten to put the handbrake on. However, he was breathalysed and gave a positive reading for alcohol.
The results have not been made public, but the presence of alcohol means that he could face a charge of negligence or worse depending on how her condition develops.
