The Guardia Civil have arrested a mother, accused of forcing her daughter to prostitute herself.

The arrest was made on the Costa Tropical as part of police operation Feminal which netted the 44-year old, foreign mother, who had brought her daughter (who is not a minor) to the country with false promises of better life.

After paying for her daughter’s flight, upon arrival the mother took away her passport and other ID and through threats, forced her to become a prostitute during six months until the situation was discovered.

The mother was taken before a police court and released pending trial but with a court order forbidding her from approaching her daughter. The investigation continues in case there are more victims involved.
