Padul Stabbing Trial

The man accused of stabbing somebody with a large kitchen knife in Padul faced trial last month; he is charged with attempted murder.

In fact, both men armed themselves with a kitchen knife when the argument boiled over into a more lethal exchange.

The Public Prosecutor’s office recommended nine year’s imprisonment whilst the other man would merely get a fine of 1,200 euros, as he also inflicted wounds on his opponent.

All this took place on the 21st of April, 2023 when the man facing an attempted murder charge went round to the other man’s house to speak about an argument they previously had. He stood outside the door shouting at the man to come out, which he eventually did before both going inside.

Another argument ensued in the kitchen and soon they were both reaching for kitchen knives. The aggressor stabbed his victim twice; once in the neck and once in the chest with a 20cm blade.

The man, pouring blood, ran outside and was aided by somebody who had been driving by and stopped and drove him to hospital. If the driver had not done this, the Public Prosecutor considers, the victim would not have survived.

As for the aggressor’s injuries, he suffered cuts to his fingers, his chest and the shin, which is why the second man was also being tried.
