The Almuñécar Fire Service and the Policía Local were called out to a fire just inside the entrance to the Ke discotheque (formerly El Caribe) on Avenida Costa del Sol.

Neighbours saw a column of smoke coming out of the entrance office and alerted 112. Fire personnel were able to put it out before it could cause problems to neighbouring buildings.

Although there was nobody in the office at the time of the fire, there were signs that somebody had been squatting there, as there was an old mattress and sofa inside. In fact, it was these two items that caused the fire to grow.

Both the Fire Department and the Policía Local are investigating the incident.
