School Kids on an Eco-Mission

Early last week, pupils from Salobreña's senior school were out on a planting expedicition along the banks of Río Guadalfeo.

The excursion was organised jointly by the Town Hall and Ecologistas en Acción and some 60 pupils from IES Nazarí took part.

The chosen spot was an area previously occupied by wild cane but thanks to these volunteers around 50 tamarisks and oleander bushes were planted.

These two kinds of plants were chosen as it was considered that they had the best chance of adapting to the choosen terrain, explained the Councillor for the Environment, Mariola Martínez.

The next area for replanting will be the Cerrillo del Venero in Lobres, which is where the Punto-Limpio installations are.
