Anti-Caterpillar Campaign

The annual task of eliminating processionary-caterpillar nests in pine trees within Salobreña began last week and continues.

Workers have been busy on the Paseo de las Flores-Gambullón, Lobres, Parque de la LibertadCasa Roja and the lane up to the cementery. The task consists of fumigation and the removal of the candyfloss-like nests.

The Councillor for Parks & Gardens, Luis Cano, reminds residents to be extremely cautious, given the extreme skin irritation that just touching one of these creatures can cause.

It is especially dangerous for pets, whose curiosity quickly gets the better of them. Dogs can lose their tongues through necrosis if they try to eat them.
