A 90-year-old, British woman and her 63-year-old son were found dead in their home in Alhaurín el Grande in the province of Málaga.
Both appear to have died from natural causes; i.e., there was no violence involved. The principal hypothesis is that the son, who cared for his mother died first and that she, who was entirely dependent upon him, starved to death.

The bodies were found late in the evening of the 13th after the municipal, social services raised the alarm because they had heard nothing from the victims for several days.
The Policía Local were sent to their address to investigate to see if there was a problem. Apparently, these periods without contact from the mother and son had occurred before. The officers called repeatedly at the front door and because there was no answer, they gained entrance and found the bodies.
It is not quite clear which of the two died first, however, as medical staff had visited the house some days before to attend to the women who was terminally ill. The bodies were taken to the Instituto de Medicina Legal (IML) de Málaga, for an autopsy, which should reveal more information on what happened.
In such cases as these, where two or more people die on the day or only days apart, the police normally find signs of violence having taken place between them, or that a third person was involved, or it could even be a suicide pact. Finally, it is possible that both died from carbon-monoxide poisoning from a gas fire…
