Illegal Landing in Carchuna

On the penultimate day of 2024, a RIB briefly landed on a Charchuna beach with 17 illegal immigrants onboard. Amongst them were two minors.

However, the authorities believe that there were originally up to 30 people onboard, owing to statements made by the immigrants who had been taken to Motril Port to be processed by the Red Cross and Guardia Civil.

After receiving First Aid treatment, food and dry clothing from the Cruz Roja volunteers, the were taken to the Centro de Acogida Temporal de Emigrantes (CATE) in Motril.

The RIB, powered by several large outboard motors, had stayed only briefly in the surf off Playa de la Chucha, long enough for the passengers to jump out, before speeding off out to sea again.
