Christmas at The Top

Sierra Nevada is going full Christmas with plenty of activities up there, with concerts and even a traditional Christmas market.

The market will be held in the Plaza de Andalucía, the concerts in Borreguiles and kiddies’ cinema in Pradollano.

Santa, of course, will be making an appearance on the slopes, the Midnight’s chimes will usher in the New Year and there will be a Three Kings Parade.

So, things start on the 23rd with Santa showing off on the Borreguiles ski slope, greeting children and handed out sweets. He will also be making an appearance the next day, Christmas Eve.

Then, starting on Boxing Day (26th) and lasting until the 29th, The Sierra Nevada Market will take place in the Plaza de Andalucía, as previously mentioned. Quite apart from the stalls and their wares, it will also have a kiddies’ corner where there will be story telling, a workshop where they can learn to make chests/boxes, masks and Christmas decorations, all between 11.00h and 19.00h.

In the Borreguiles there will be a DJ on the 27th and 28th, as well as on the 3rd and 4th of January.

The chidren’s cinema is free where they will screen three films: Wonka on the 2nd, Noah’s Ark on the 3rd and Momias (Mummies) on the 4th. This will be in the events hall of Hotel Telecabina at 18.00h.

And, not to be missed, is the 12 strokes of Midnight on the 31st in the Plaza de Andalucía where there will be a DJ providing some canned music.

Finally, the Three Kings, not to be out done by Santa, will come down the slopes as well (El Río) which will begin at 19.00h in Borreguiles and end in the Plaza de Andalucía (hopefully, not in a tangled knot of kings, camels and skis).

So if you still have no plans for Christmas… try something different!
