An 8-year-old boy was hospitalised at the Hospital Materno Infantil in Málaga after falling through a gap between floors in the airport's parking facilities.

The emergency coordination centre, 112, received an alert at 23.44h Thursday night to say what had happened.

The child, who is Spanish and had just arrived with his parents at Málaga Airport (apparently, they were waiting for a vehicle), had fallen approximately eight metres and was lying face down, unconscious, on the concrete floor.

It was first thought that he was very badly injured so he was rushed to hospital as soon as the paramedics had stabised his condition enough to move him.

The boy has head injuries but they are apparently not life threatening.
