A road accident with a twist in Guadahortuna (north-eastern Granada) has caused a great deal of commotion in that town.
A car, for reasons unknown, left the road and ended up on its roof, after rolling over several times before coming to rest. Inside was a man, his estranged partner (who was pregnant) and their three children. The woman was instantly killed in the crash but the other occupants were relatively unscathed.

The situation becomes more complicated in the fact that the man had a restraining order against him approaching his ex-partner and that after the accident, he ran off leaving the children and the body of their mother in the car.
It should be said that he did not run off immediately, but only left the minors, aged 4, 12 and 16, when he heard the sirens of the first emergency vehicle approaching. Other drivers using the road had seen the accident occur and phoned 112.
The children were taken to the Guadahortuna medical centre for a check-up and to have their minor injuries treated. There was nothing that could be done for the 37-year-old woman, who was five months pregnant. It’s not clear if the first responders knew that when they declared her as dead.
This occurred around 02.30h on Saturday morning, with the lights of the town in view.
