The Chairman of the Sierra Nevada Entrepreneurs Association, Ordoño Vázquez, said yesterday that the ski-station businesses are organising themselves with an eye to the season beginning on Saturday.
Chairman Vázquez says that they hope to open the recreational areas and get the ski cabins and lifts working this weekend because in the last two years there hasn’t been the snow on the ground up there that there is at the moment, thanks to these recent rains.
Therefore, with expected rainfall, and temperatures dropping, they can get the dozens of snow cannons into action.
In other words, the ski slopes could be open for the coming double, bank holiday on the 6th and 8th of December and consequentally, most of the businesses, such as hotels, restaurants and shops, too will already be open.
So, it’s a case of keeping fingers crossed that forecast rain (athough little) could add more natural snow to the slopes.
